Good budget option - Not 100% waterproof
Comfortable despite not being "worn in" in advance A little cheap looking

These are a very good budget option. Purchased for my child who was walking Snowdon. The boots stood up well to the condition and whilst not 100% waterproof, these did the job perfectly. My son reported that they were comfortable (despite not being worn in ahead of the day). Perhaps not the most attractive option but extremely good value.

These are excellent quality boots, good fit, nice and light, waterproof and comfortable, my kids live in their boots. Couldn't be happier with them.

Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested both in the lab and real-world usage, NOVADRY®-equipped footwear guarantees optimum waterproofing and breathability. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.The Arpenaz 100 Mid Junior shoe is waterproof for 2000 flexes.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. So to keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing long or short waterproof leg warmers over the top of your boots, to prevent water from seeping in, as well as sand and pebbles. We recommend applying a water-proofing spray several times a year to maintain water repellency and prevent staining on outer layers.
Buying tips
Have your child try both boots on, standing up, in their hiking socks. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
What size should I choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to prevent your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the shoe.
Field test
All our shoes are tested in comfort and in use by users who represent those, for whom the products are designed, under conditions identical to those that you can find in use. Our "Missions Tests" put the product manager in contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.
Laboratory test
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Arpenaz 100 high Warm shoes are waterproof for 2,000 flexes.
