    Bargain

Have been worn a few times, yet to wear in the wet but good. Look funky & sizing/fit seem good. Sole is hard & the insole lacks a bit of cushioning, but overall, a bargain

Features

Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: Tested in laboratories and in the field, the NOVADRY® equipped shoes ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4,000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8,000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.The Arpenaz 100 Mid Junior shoe is waterproof for 2000 flexes.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. So to keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing long or short waterproof leg warmers over the top of your boots, to prevent water from seeping in, as well as sand and pebbles. We recommend applying a water-proofing spray several times a year to maintain water repellency and prevent staining on outer layers.
Buying tips
Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
What shoe size do I choose?
For hiking, do try a size about your usual one to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from touching the top of the shoe. Recommendation: keep your toenails short and before any descent, check that your lacing will prevent your foot from sliding forwards towards the front of the shoe.
Field Test
All our shoes undergo use and comfort tests carried out by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.
LaboratoryTesting
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: tearing eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
