Good compact bag, average build quality

Lovely and compact ideal for shopping and casual use but Alpenaz 10 very similar weight and pack ability and has a much better build quality. The ultra compact bag is better suited to light use rather than day hikes, after using it as a second small hiking rucksack while backpacking (and loving the fact it fit in my main bag) it started to wear at the seams - better shoulder straps would really help as with some weight in it the weakest point is where the straps join the bag at the shoulders. This could be avoided if the straps fabric was integrated into the back panel fabric avoiding the need for a seam. If wanting a slightly more durable bag I'd buy the Alpenaz 10 instead but both are good value for money and compact.

A compact, strong and light bag

I really like this bag. I cycle alot and space is a premium on a bike. This bag makes no difference to my weight load, easily stashed in my Jersey pocket. It seems strong enough and so far I've not had that feeling it will come apart at the seams when i put it on or take it off. Ive not stuffed it to the max but had a good load in it when I've accidentally bought myself presents on a whim. It also seems waterproof though not fully tested in a downpour, just a shower and the contents were all dry. Thumbs up from me.

Features

How is backpack volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. We then empty the balls into a graduated container which provides the equivalent volume in litres with a tolerance ranging a couple of %.
Backpack technical tests
Backpack components are approved in laboratory tests, including:fabric, buckles, webbing, foam, zips, etc. Fabrics are tested for: resistance to wear, tearing, colour-fastness in UV rays, washing, waterproofing, etc. A final test on the finished product simulates the kind of treatment to which it will be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly. The backpack is weighted then placed on a dummy which then reproduces the movement of fast walking through 1000 of cycles.
A note to compare the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is allocated to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
