Kept me dry Color is slightly orange not red

Had this jacket for a couple of weeks, wore it for a days urban hike to a country pub and it rained for over an hour constant and sometimes heavy and the jacket kept me dry so for £40 im happy i did however spray it with waterproof spray first though :) but im confident it would have done the same job...all in all a decent cheap hiking jacket

Tips

Care instructions
Wash at 30°C. Use liquid detergent; do not add fabric conditioner. Fasten zips and rip-tabs before washing. Renew fabric water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment each time you wash. All our Decathlon stores offer a complete range of products specially designed to care for water-resistant and breathable fabrics. These products will help you optimise your garment's performance throughout its lifespan.
Storage Tips
Always make sure that this waterproof protective garment is completely dry before storing it.

Features

Sizing information and cut
Standard cut. The jacket's inner volume allows you to wear it over a warm second layer such as light down or fleece.
Hood
Height can be adjusted using an elastic drawcord and toggles. Adjustable depth thanks to a rip-tab strap at the back of the hood. Shape memory visor provides good face protection.
Pockets
2 hand pockets with zips under flaps + 1 outer chest pocket with zip under a flap.
Adjustable hem of jacket
Elastic draw-cords and toggles.
Wrist adjustment
Velcro tab fasteners.
Main component
2-layer coated fabric.
Technical linings
The fabric inside the sleeves is designed to manage perspiration and provide greater comfort when the jacket is worn over "bare arms" (on top of a T-shirt or another short-sleeve garment). Meshed fabric body lining to enhance the garment's breathability.
Recommended additional product
Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body and provide a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain hikes. Care products: waterproofing spray or liquid in the machine, to renew the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
Garment waterproofing
We measure a fabric resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means that the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of nearly a two-hour downpour).
Garment waterproofing
NOVADRY® technology: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
Waterproof component
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric resistance is, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric breathability is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9<RET<12 = very breathable fabric / 12<RET<20 = breathable fabric / RET>20 = little or no breathability.
Component breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
Component with membrane or coating
Like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
Consists of 3, 2 or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is bonded to an inner and outer layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only bonded to the outer layer, the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
Water-repellent component
A fabric is water-repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received water-repellent treatment.
Comparative note on the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is provided to help you easily identify the most environmentally-friendly products when comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of this environmentally-friendly labelling approach. For more information, visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
