    It deserves 5 stars
Kept me dry Color is slightly orange not red

Had this jacket for a couple of weeks, wore it for a days urban hike to a country pub and it rained for over an hour constant and sometimes heavy and the jacket kept me dry so for £40 im happy i did however spray it with waterproof spray first though :) but im confident it would have done the same job...all in all a decent cheap hiking jacket

Tests
Quechua is based at the foot of Mont Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, our design teams create and develop products that are beautiful, simple, and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field in collaboration with our technical partners and mountain professionals. We remain convinced that only through rigorous testing under real world conditions, like the ones you will be using them in, can we continue to provide you with better products than ever.

Tips

Care instructions
Wash at 30°C. Use liquid detergent; do not add fabric conditioner. Fasten zips and rip-tabs before washing. With each wash, renew the fabric's water repellent properties using a suitable treatment. A full range of products specially designed to help you care for waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all Decathlon stores. These products will help you optimise your garment's performance throughout its lifespan.
Storage Tips
Always make sure that this waterproof protective garment is completely dry before storing it.

Features

Sizing information
Standard cut. Sized for wearing over a technical second layer such as a light down jacket or fleece.
Hood
Folds into the collar. Height can be adjusted using an elastic drawcord and toggles. Adjustable depth thanks to a rip-tab strap at the back of the hood. Shape memory visor provides good face protection.
Pockets
2 hand pockets with zips under flaps + 1 outer chest pocket with zip under a flap.
Jacket hem drawcord
Elastic draw-cords and toggles.
Wrist adjustment
Velcro tightening straps.
Main component
2-layer coated fabric.
Technical linings
The fabric inside the sleeves is designed to manage perspiration and provide greater comfort when the jacket is worn over "bare arms" (on top of a T-shirt or another short-sleeve garment). Meshed fabric body lining to enhance the garment's breathability.
Recommended additional product
Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body and provide a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain hikes. Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To boost fabric water-repellency and optimise your garment performance throughout its life.
Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 2000 mm can therefore withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is approximately equivalent to a one-hour rain shower).
Waterproof garment
NOVADRY® technology: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9<RET<12 = very breathable fabric / 12<RET<20 = breathable fabric / RET>20 = little or no breathability.
Garment breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
Component with membrane or coating
Coating: like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane: is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
3-, 2- or 2.5-layer component
"3 layers": the membrane is bonded to an inner and outer layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. "2 layers": the membrane is only bonded to the outer layer, the inner protective lining is "free". This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. "2.5 layers": the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible.
Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All the Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
