tested and approved by a team of eight test customers during a three-day test mission in the Mont-Blanc mountain range.
Quechua is based at the foot of Mont-Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, our design teams create and develop products that are beautiful, simple, and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field in collaboration with our technical partners and mountain professionals. We remain convinced that only through rigorous testing under real world conditions, like the ones you will be using them in, can we continue to provide you with better products than ever.
female mountain hikers seeking protection from the rain and wind, as well as a jacket offering good ventilation.
Wash at 30°C. Use liquid detergent; do not add fabric conditioner. Fasten zips and rip-tabs before washing. With each wash, renew the fabric's water repellent properties using a suitable treatment. A complete range of products specially designed to help care for waterproof, and breathable fabrics is available in all Decathlon stores. These products will help you optimise your garment's performance throughout its lifespan.
Always make sure that this waterproof protective garment is completely dry before storing it.
Close-fitting feminine cut. Sized for wearing over a technical second layer such as a light down jacket or fleece.
Height can be adjusted using an elastic drawcord and toggles. Adjustable depth thanks to a rip-tab strap at the back of the hood. Shape memory visor provides good face protection.
2 zipped hand pockets with flap, 1 inner, zipped chest pocket.
Jacket hem drawcord
Elastic drawcord and toggles.
Velcro tab fasteners.
2-layer coated fabric.
Mesh body lining to enhance the garment's breathability. Sleeve lining to optimise perspiration management and provide greater comfort when wearing with bare sleeves (over T-shirt or other short sleeved garment).
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Fabrics scoring 2,000 mm can resist the pressure from 2,000 mm of water.
This garment has been shower-tested using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops high-tech solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its hiking jackets and overtrousers. These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
Fabric with membrane or coating
Coating: like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane: is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
3-, 2- or 2.5-layer fabric
"3 layers": the membrane is bonded to an inner and outer layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. "2 layers": the membrane is only bonded to the outer layer, the inner protective lining is "free". This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. "2.5 layers": the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible.
Water repellent fabric
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from becoming saturated, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
Recommended additional product
Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body and provide a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain hikes. Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is allocated to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
