Tested and approved by a team of 8 customers testers, during a 3-day test mission in the mountains of the Mont Blanc.
Our team of designers is based at the foot of Mont Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are beautiful, simple and technologically advanced. We then test them mercilessly in real-life situations because we are convinced that only this type of testing can make us progress continuously.
the mountain hiker who wants to protect herself from the rain or wind with a jacket that provides good ventilation.
Wash at 30°C. Use liquid detergent; do not add fabric conditioner. Fasten zips and rip-tabs before washing. Regenerate the water repellency by means of an adequate treatment during every wash. A complete range of products for the care of waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all our Decathlon shops. These products will help you optimise your garment's performance throughout its lifespan.
Make sure this waterproof garment is always perfectly dry before putting it away.
Information about the sizes and fits
Close-fitting feminine cut. The inner volume of this jacket allows you to wear another technical layer of clothing, like a thin down jacket or a fleece.
Height can be adjusted using an elastic drawcord and toggles. Adjustable depth thanks to a rip-tab strap at the back of the hood. Shape memory visor provides good face protection.
2 zipped hand pockets with flap, 1 inner, zipped chest pocket.
Jacket hem draw cord
with elastic cord+ toggles.
Velcro tab fasteners.
2-layer coated fabric.
Mesh lining to stimulate the breathability of the garment. Fabric on the inside of the sleeves to maximize the evacuation of sweat and provide more comfort when the jacket is worn with bare arms (over a t-shirt or another short-sleeved garment).
Waterproofing of the component
We measure the resistance of a fabric to a water pressure expressed in mm of the water column (test based on the standard ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. A component with a 2,000 mm waterproofing resists to a pressure of 2,000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a downpour of 2 hours).
Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been validated during the shower test under 100 l of water / sqm / hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems both regulate the temperature inside the garment and facilitate the evacuation of sweat generated by the body during exercise.
Component with membrane or coating
The coating is similar to a paint applied on the inside of the fabric which makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) which makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
Component 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is glued between the 2 inside and outside layers of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only glued to the outside layer of fabric, the inside protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane is protected on the inside by some sort of varnish rather than a real layer for maximum lightness.
Water repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The coating on the outer side of the fabric makes it water repellent. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received water-repellent treatment.
Recommended additional product
Forclaz Rain overtrousers to protect also the lower body and thus to enjoy a complete and effective protection against rain during your excursions in the mountains. Care products: spray or liquid that reinforces the waterproofing during the wash to regenerate the water repellency of the fabric and optimize the performance of your garment throughout its lifespan.
comparative note on the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of the product has been calculated based on the life cycle of the product and with different indicators. A score ranging from A to E is attributed so that you can easily identify the products with a better environmental performance compared to products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon totally backs the environmental labelling approach. For more info: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
