    Good value, breathable waterproof.

Great coat, well made and a nice fit for my wife. Its not as short as most waterproofs are becoming these days. Pockets are a good size as is the hood. Coat is both waterproof and breathable, unless your doing some serious outdoor stuff in some serious conditions - why pay more.

Waterproof component
This garment was approved in a shower test in 100 L of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. This reproduces the conditions of a big mountain storm. The inner layer is a varnish coating rather than a real layer.
Component breathability
To find out if a fabric is breathable, its total evaporation resistance RET (test based on ISO 11092), is measured. The lower the resistance, the more the fabric lets water vapour generated by body movements escape, therefore the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9<RET<12 = very breathable fabric / 12<RET<20 = breathable fabric / RET>20 = little or no breathability.
Breathability of the garment
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow both temperature regulation inside the garment and help wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
Component with coating or a membrane
The coating is like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. A membrane like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. A membrane has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
Component 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is bonded between the outer and inner layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only bonded to the outer fabric, the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
Water-repellent properties of the component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. Water-repellent effect is achieved by using a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.
Additional recommended products
Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body for a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain outings. Care products: reproofing spray or liquid for use in the washing machine restores water-repellent properties of the fabric and optimises the performance of your garment throughout its lifetime.
Comparative note on the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over the entire lifecycle of the product using different indicators. An overall rating of ABCDE is provided to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with each other (t-shirts, trousers and backpacks). Decathlon is a voluntary actor in this environmental labelling process. For further information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
