    Excellent value, great boot.
comfort, water proof, price as children grow! no negaties.

I wanted a boot for my son to wear to beavers and Forest Club at school. They fit well are waterproof and were comfortable straight away. He's 7 and also seems to manage to put them on on his own!

    Nice boot, but wear out
Nice look and fit Sadly leak and have split across top

I like these boots, but they are leaking falling apart after little use. They look old and wear out too quickly.

Features

Crosscontact sole
We researched this sole design extensively in our laboratories, along with a specific rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. We systematically seek the best compromise between the different needs when hiking on muddy or dry terrain.
Waterproofing test
First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. Forclaz 500 high hiking boots for children are waterproof for 4,000 flexes.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. So to keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing long or short waterproof leg warmers over the top of your boots, to prevent water from seeping in, as well as sand and pebbles. We recommend applying a water-proofing spray several times a year to maintain water repellency and prevent staining on outer layers.
BUYING TIPS
Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
Which size should I select?
For hiking, do not hesitate to buy one size larger than the usual size to guarantee excellent comfort on the descent and to avoid toes rubbing at the tip of the shoe. Recommendation: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the shoe.
Field tests
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who are unaffiliated with Quechua, to test, improve and validate our products.
Lab tests
Further laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.
