Tips

Care instructions
Take care of your shoes; cleaning them regularly helps maintain their efficiency for longer. Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. This is not a problem in itself, but would change the aesthetic look of the shoe. Air dry. Do not dry near a heat source. Do not machine wash.
Storage Tips
Store in a dark, dry and well-ventilated place.
Restricted use
Not suitable for rock climbing.

Features

Cross Contact sole
Lengthy research into the design of the sole at the Essensole laboratories, combined with a special rubber formulation optimise grip on rocky terrain.
360° System
Our exclusive system uses a strap that goes under your instep. Tightening your laces also tightens the strap, providing extra instep support without sacrificing comfort. Since the angle of the strap is aligned with the laces, there are no uncomfortably hard pressure points. This provides unrivalled support and therefore greater precision and safety in challenging sections.
X stab technology
TPU part (rigid plastic) stabilises the heel. This insert is embedded into the compression-moulded EVA at the heel thereby stabilising and keeping it in position at the back of the shoe. The insert extends out at the sides so that it is covered by the 360° System strap, gently merging with the rest of the shoe at the forefoot. It is used to brace the foot and, along with the injection-moulded EVA in the front sole, provides excellent push off.
Cushioning
Two types of materials have been used to provide an optimised cushioning / weight ratio. The heel (the part of your foot that needs the most cushioning) is made of compressed EVA. This provides long-lasting cushioning over time whilst minimising the thickness of the shoe. The front of the shoe is made of injected EVA; this light and bouncy material allows you to push off effectively.
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in laboratory and actual usage conditions, the shoes are equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane to provide optimal protection from rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
In the waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, with 2,000 flexes (approx. 2h walking), 4000 flexes (approx. 4h walking) and 8000 flexes (approx. 8h walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
Waterproofing level
The Forclaz 700 waterproof passes the 8000 flexes test.
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
What size should I choose?
For hiking, you may need a size larger than your usual size to guarantee optimal comfort while going downhill, and avoid your toes bumping the end of the shoes. Tip: keep your toenails short, and before going downhill at any time, check that your laces are tight enough to stop your feet slipping down towards the front of the shoes.

Lab tests
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: eyelet and strap attachment, sticking, toxicology, UV resistance, wearing of sole and upper components, early wear and tear.
