Tips

Care instructions
To ensure fabrics maintain their properties (particularly the waterproofing), we do not recommend washing them in the washing machine, tumble drying them, dry-cleaning them or using bleach. Do not iron. To clean your backpack by hand, use warm soapy water and a brush if needed. After a few years of use, you should renew the water-repellent properties of the fabric using a waterproofing spray.
Storage Tips
Store your backpack in a dry place.
Restricted use
Not waterproof; protect your belongings in case of rain.

Features

Field tests
All our backpacks are tested in the field by users who represent the target market of the products designed, use under conditions identical to those found in typical use. In particular, our Field Test Missions team up our product managers with people not affiliated with QUECHUA to test, improve and validate our products.
Laboratory test
Components are approved in laboratory tests, including: fabrics, buckles, straps, foam, zips... For example, with fabrics: resistance to rubbing, tearing, colour-fastness under UV rays, washing, waterproofing...A test on the final product which speeds up the effects of impact on the backpack over the years, to check resistance of the assemblies: with ballasts, they are placed on a mannequin reproducing movements which accompany quick walking over thousands of cycles.
10-year technical partnership warranty
The research and development department on heavy stitching, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. The tests focused on components, seams and the end product. As a result of these tests, Quechua can guarantee all bags tested for a duration of 10 years from the date of purchase indicated on the sales receipt.
Warranty of 10 years, conditions
The warranty covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty will only be granted upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired free of charge or exchanged. This commercial guarantee does not affect any statutory guarantees that are applicable in the country and/or States.
How is backpack volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: small balls are used to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. We then empty the balls into a graduated container, which provides the equivalent volume in litres.
How to adjust my backpack?
1- Loosen all the buckles (straps, belt, load boosters). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - For bags of 50 l and more, place the belt on your hips (it must cover the pelvic iliac bones) and tighten it. For smaller volumes, place around the waist. 4 - Tighten the shoulder straps. 5- Adjust the load boosters to your liking.
How to pack my backpack?
Place sleeping equipment at the bottom. Place heavy materials near the back (tent, camping stove, food). Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece close to hand. Small items will be divided amongst the pockets (sun cream, card, glasses...). Put the water pocket in the compartment generally provided
Environmental measurements
Oxylane and Quechua have decided to inform you on the environmental impact of their hiking backpack products across their entire lifecycle. This work resulted from an experiment completed in July 2011 alongside the French Ministry of Ecology. Scores ranging from A to E were awarded based on comparisons between Quechua's backpacks only. Details on this project and the calculation methods used are available at http://www.oxylane.com/20/demarche-environnementale
