I am very pleased with these shoes, was wearing nearly 4 months and still they are in a perfect shape, for summer maybe they are a bit warm, but for autumn I think they will be great. One thing that I didn't like is that when I received it on the left boot there was a nasty defect, right in the front part of the boot, next time please, check your items carefully and only then send. All in all I am satisfied with the quality!!!

    One of the best

Waterproof, comfortable and the best walking/gardening/wet weather shoes I have ever had. I just hope they are available in a couple of years when they will need replacing.

    Great so far

Very pleased so far but only been out twice down the coastal path. Grip is excellent and the fit is exactly the same as my Kalenji trail shoes which is spot on. They are much lighter than expected and look really good quality. Will see what happens to them in the winter...

Crosscontact sole
We researched this sole design extensively in our laboratories, along with a specific rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. We aim for the best compromise for walking on dry and slippery terrain, knowing that the needs are not the same.
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in laboratory and actual usage conditions, the shoes are equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane to provide optimal protection from rain. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products. They are half immersed and then placed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking: we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The Forclaz 500 waterproof passes the 8000 flexes test.
Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters, it is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer periods by protecting the top part of your shoes and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your shoes recover their original water-repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes, if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using your boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
What size should I choose?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to prevent your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the shoe.
Field test
All our shoes are tested in comfort and in use, by users representative of those for whom the products are designed, under conditions identical to those that you can find in use. Our "Missions Tests" put the product manager in contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.
Laboratory test
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: Arpenaz 100 high Warm shoes are waterproof for 2,000 flexes.
