    Waterproof hiking boots

The first thing I noticed was how light the boots were. The fit is what I expected and I always wear walking boots with two pairs of socks, one thin and one medium thickness. I wear the boots for most of the day and they are comfortable throughout. The laces tighten easily and stay knotted. My feet have kept dry.

    First class

Usually spend £140 on my boots these cost only £40. They have been used in Scotland, the Peak District and France. Temperature range -10 to + 39 Celsius. Never leaked always comfortable very breathable. Bought two more pairs to keep in stock, when I eventually wear first pair out.

Features

Crosscontact sole
The sole design is the product of a lengthy research and development process conducted in our laboratories, combined with a special rubber formulation to optimise grip and traction. Given the range of different needs, we are always seeking the best compromise for walking on both wet and dry terrain.
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 16 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The MH100 Mid waterproof boot passed the test involving 4000 flexes.
Prolonging the waterproof properties
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing waterproof gaiters or mini-gaiters to protect the top part of the boots and prevent water, pebbles, sand, etc. from getting inside. To restore the original water repellent properties and prevent staining the outer surface, spray with a waterproof spray several times per year.
Buying tips
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the boot.
What shoe size should I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: before any descent, make sure that your toe nails are clipped and that your laces are tightened so that your feet cannot slide forwards in the boot.
Field test
All our boots are tested in real-life conditions by testers who are representative of the target customer to ensure that they fit properly and are comfortable in use. Our Missions Tests link the product manager up with people who are not affiliated to Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Laboratory Testing
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tearing resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
