Crosscontact sole
The design of the sole has been the subject of long research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. As requirements are not the same, we automatically look for the best compromise to develop on both soft and dry terrain.
Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: laboratory- and field-tested, shoes with a breathable, waterproof membrane ensure you have optimum protection from the rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. They are half immersed and then placed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking: we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 16 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.The MH100 waterproof shoe passed the test involving 4000 flexes.
Prolonging waterproofness
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters, it is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer periods by protecting the top part of your shoes and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your shoes recover their original water-repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Break your shoes in gradually on your first big hike to mould them to your feet.
What shoe size do I choose?
For hiking, do try a size about your usual one to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from touching the top of the shoe. Recommendation: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tightened to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.

Other laboratory tests are also conducted to approve the quality of the following components: tearing eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
