    Incredible jacket

This is a 3 ply membrane jacket. That would be great but the fact that it's stretchy, perfectly cut and totally waterproof is bonkers. It's my go-to jacket for rainy hikes in North Wales now. Very impressed.

    Big bang for little bucks

There's alot to like about this jacket, especially if your tall like me. Firstly its lovely and soft- you can happily wear it all day- Like a thick soft shell in fact. The breathability is superb when its not raining (more on that later) It's cut is long, the hood is great and the sleeves are perfect - if you have long arms...
The only negative is it wets out after an hour of heavy rain. And when it wets out like any other waterproof it gets damp inside. No waterproof works properly once the outer is overwhelmed and this happens to any waterproof relying on a dwr. which alas is most of them. You can spend £200 and this will happen or you can spend £59....

Had this jacket for nearly a year and a half and the zip went but they replaced it straight away

Additional recommended products
Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body for a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain outings. Care products: waterproof spray or liquid in the machine, to renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifetime of your garment.
Component waterproofing
We test a fabric's resistance to water pressure by measuring the height of a column of water supported by the fabric in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The better the fabric resists pressure, the more waterproof it is. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hour).
Waterproofing of the garment
This garment was approved in a shower test in 100 L of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
Component breathability
In addition to breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers designed for great hiking use (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow both temperature regulation inside the garment and help wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
Component with coating or a membrane
The coating is like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than the coating.
Component 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is bonded between the outer and inner layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only bonded to the outer fabric, the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
Water-repellent component
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. A fabric becomes water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
Comparative note on the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of each product is calculated for the product's entire life cycle, using different indicators. A general ABCDE rating is attributed to help you identify the product with the best environmental performance by comparing similar types of product to each other (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying environmental information. For more information:
