    Arpenaz 50 Men's Hiking shoe

If they are as sturdy and well built as the previous version of this shoe/trainer I'll be very happy. The fabric around the toe is much thicker/robust than the previous so may not expel heat as quickly as the other but looks like it will last longer. The tread is OK on hard surfaces, not sure what it will be like on slippery (mud/snow) surfaces. Tread is deep enough to last quite some time. The tread is quick soft and spongy and affords a comfortable fit/walk, though I do tend to add an extra insole anyway (it seems wide/large enough to take one). No frills trainer that's excellent value for money in my opinion

    Good for the price

I bought these online as I urgently needed some low cost shoes with grip. For the price, you can't complain, but they're not rugged or meant for a lot of outdoor winter walking. The upper is quite flimsy and I don't think would be very waterproof. I take a 42 / 8, but they're quite snug, the downside of not trying on shoes in the shop. However, for a tenner, they do the job.

Features

Crosscontact sole
We designed the sole based on long research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. The Arpenaz 50 sole is designed to offer better grip than traction. Traction: means not slipping on soft ground (wet or dry). Grip: means not slipping on hard ground (wet or dry).
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several styles or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Always walk around the store. Wear your shoes in gradually during the first hikes, to mould them to your foot.
What size should I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the boot.

Laboratory Testing
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tearing resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
