    2nd pair

I bought the previous edition of these walking shoes a year ago. I have worn them nearly day for walkiing to my bus around town and light trekking. I replaced the insole for one more suitable for my gait. Due to the good experience I have now bought this newer model in green. I am getting them worn in again and I have used them for 3 weeks. The sole is better and grips well. My only reservation they are slightly lower to the ground and not as high on the instep or outer foot.

    Excellent value boots

To get a comfy pair of walking boots for £20 is exceptional value. They are lightweight and attractive. Haven't tested the water-proofing qualities yet but I'm sure they'll fit the bill. Good support and comfort.

Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. They are half immersed and then placed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking: we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4,000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8,000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The Arpenaz 100 Mid Ndy shoe is waterproof for 2000 flexes.
Field test
All our boots undergo user comfort and field tests carried out by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to real-life use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people not connected with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
Laboratory test
Other laboratory tests are also conducted to pass the following: tearing resistance of the eyelets and straps, resistance of adhesives, toxicology, UV resistance, resistance to abrasion of the outsole and upper components, accelerated ageing.
