28 October 2016Use since 2 to 8 weeksThat review has been deposited on this product versionpurchase confirmedVery comfortable boots but the sole isn't up to itComfortable Significant wear to the soles in just 4 weeks use.
I had the equivalent pair of boots bought many years ago in France and have been delighted with them. When after 6 years or so hard work every summer in the alps the time came to replace them, I went for the same boot, well, its current equivalent. They were just as comfortable, but after 2 weeks walking in the alps this summer and two weeks in the Ardèche this month, the soles are already shewing serious signs of wear to the treads, which are much softer and less deep than my previous boot. Disappointed. I'm going to be lucky to get a year's use out of them.Brand's answer :

09 October 2016Use since More than 1 yearThat review has been deposited on this product versionnot waterprrofcomfortable for tough terrain, not waterproof.
Been using them for a year or so, went on one trek, recently the water started leaking in, not sure why. they have started soaking water like anything... can i still use the warranty or not?Brand's answer :
Thank you for getting in touch regarding the Forclaz 500 High Boots. The Boots come with a waterproof PU membrane inside and a water-repellent treatment outside. There are few possibilities here with regards to water coming in.
1. The outside water-repellent treatment has deteriorated and the fabric is absorbing water, this is highly likely to happen with usage and all waterproof products need renewal of this coating after regular intervals (very similar to waxing leather shoes). You can renew the treatment by spraying it with water-repellent spray for outdoor boots.
2. The inside water-proof membrane got damaged. This can be due to wear and tear or usage. Not much can be done when this happens.
3. Water is coming in from the top or the tongue if you are not wearing Gaiters. Capillary action sucks water from surrounding areas(puddles, dew on long grass etc.) and the dry parts of the boots get wet. Gaiters with waterproof overtrousers are advised in this case.
4. It is not water that has got in but the sweat that is finding it hard to escape the boots because the breathability of the boots is reduced due to the waterproof membrane getting clogged with dirt or salt crystals found in sweat, all it need is a good clean(inside&outside both) that will open the pores of the membrane. Use footwear cleaner for this purpose, air dry the boots completely in shade and apply the water-repellent spray after that. Leave it to dry. 06 October 2016Use since 3 to 6 monthsI recommendThat review has been deposited on this product versionEVERYTHING BUT WATERPROOFFlexibility married with Sturdiness divorced Water Not waterproof... padded insole is a must...
Although the shoe feels solid, comfortable and stylish... It is definitely not waterproof. One can add an additional insole for additional comfort while walking...
Those looking for waterproof shoes... this is not the one...

Me and my trekking partner purchased Forclaz 500 and found them sub-optimal. Both of us developed foot pain, blisters. The sole is so poorly designed that one can feel undulation of ground while walking.Brand's answer :
Thank you for your feedback on the Forclaz 500 High Boots. I am sorry to hear that you did not find the boots comfortable.
The Forclaz 500 High has been designed for hiking in the mountains on all type of terrain. The design of this boot is relatively wider to accommodate all types of foot shapes.
As you might know already, blisters are very common when there is friction involved within the boot. Therefore it is very important to tighten the laces securely in order to avoid the foot moving inside the boot.
Also, as some individuals (like me) can have relatively narrow foot shape therefore using an insole underneath the normal insole (to reduce overall volume without reducing the length) is suggested.
Furthermore, the sole is designed to allow easy rolling of the foot to move forward especially on technical terrain.
Here is a little video of how we made these boots.
You can also take your boots to your nearest Decathlon for inspection, the team would be happy to assist you with insoles/lacing techniques etc.
Please feel free to get back to me in case you have any doubts.
Many Thanks and Regards,

Nice boots, excellent system for lacing up and taking off, very comfy, waterproof up to a point, only real concern is the soles are wearing very quickly, so will just have to see how they go.
