Tests
QUECHUA tents are assembled and tested for waterproofing in tropical rain conditions (200 L water/sqm/h) for 4 hours to ensure no water gets in through the seams, flaps, openings and zips etc. The water column test (=mm schmerbers) measures the fabric's waterproof properties. Wind resistance: tents are set up in a wind tunnel on a rotating platform to expose each side of the tent to the wind. We also carry out numerous field tests in real-life conditions.

All seams are sealed using thermobonded tape. Bedroom in breathable, water repellent 66D polyester and mosquito netting to help prevent contact with condensation .
Wind resistance
We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a rotating platform where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind. To test its wind resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 70km/h, measured near ground level.
Ventilation and condensation prevention
Bedroom with mosquito netting for ventilation and water repellent fabric to prevent condensation and draughts. Large vent at front of tent's fly sheet and additional vent at feet end. To reduce condensation inside your tent, it must be properly assembled, with the fabric kept taut without over-stretching. Use of vents and good air circulation will help reduce humidity inside your tent.
Sun protection
The flysheet fabric has an UPF rating of 30 and filters out UV rays. Please note: a significant amount of UV radiation can pass through a single open door. Protect your skin.
