    Excellent value
Warmth, waterproof, fit and style none so far

I already have a number of down winter jackets from top end companies but wanted one which was waterproof so I didn't need to take an additional layer. The quality of build and design is as good as any jacket 2-3x the price. Very warm on its own and very waterproof. Still beading after an hour of standing watching kids football. Sizing is very large so for the UK you could go a size smaller as it is unlikely you would need additional down layers. Not really suitable for activity as it is very warm and heavy but perfect for watching sports or heading out for the evening. Been comparing this with NF, ME, MH and Canada Goose offerings and is equally as good for fraction of the price. I feel very snug and smug when wearing this. People get very envious.

    QUECHUA Arpenaz 1000 RainDown X-Warm Men's Hiking
Looked good and was very warm Too warm for a skiing holiday in Feb.

I bought this for my partners birthday. Did a lot of research and chose this because of the fact it was down filled and waterproof. It was a immediate success for the inclement Scottish winter weather, kept him very warm and kept the rain out whilst looking very stylish. After wearing it or a week in Scotland it was then taken on a ski holiday in Switzerland and was actually fount to be too warm. This made him very damp with sweat which meant he was cold when we stopped for coffee/lunch till he dried out.

Tests
To help you dress effectively, Quechua - in partnership with Stratermic and Oxylane Research - provides you with recommended usage temperatures for its "extreme cold" product lines. Tests are carried out in an environmental chamber to measure the thermal insulating properties of products on a dummy. These results are complemented by physiological research carried out by Oxylane Research teams to calculate the sensation of hot/cold as if in real world use.
Designed to
hikers in winter who would like to protect themselves from the rain, the wind and the extremely cold weather.

Tips

Care instructions
Avoid frequent washing. Wash at 30°C using only a little detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Place 4 tennis balls in the machine during the wash cycle to puff up the down. Rinse twice. Tumble dry recommended, synthetic cycle, with 4 tennis balls. Boost water-repellency with regular, appropriate treatment (after each wash). A comprehensive range of products specially designed to maintain waterproof products is available in all Decathlon stores.
Storage Tips
Store in a dry, ventilated place. Always make sure that this waterproof protective garment is completely dry before storing it.

Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To boost fabric water-repellency and optimise your garment performance throughout its life. We recommend using these products with each wash.
How the recommended temperature is measured
Ambient temperature is thermally neutral: the user feels neither hot nor cold. Use temperature, in accordance with standard ISO 11079, under the following conditions: Walking at 4 km/h, no wind, cloudy. Jacket worn together with: upper body: long-sleeved T-shirt + shirt + sleeveless down gilet / lower body: tights + fleece base layer + trousers / head: chapka + hood / hands: under-gloves + gloves / feet: ski socks + boots.
Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of a rain shower lasting for two hours).
Waterproof garment
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9<RET<12 = very breathable fabric / 12<RET<20 = breathable fabric / RET>20 = little or no breathability.
Water repellent component
A fabric is water-repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment needs to be repeated throughout the garment's life (we recommend after each wash). Water repellent treatment products are available in our stores. All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
A socre for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
