Footwear waterproofing test.
The footwear is laboratory and field tested to ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 4 km of walking), 4000 flexes (about 8 km of walking) and 8000 flexes (about 16 km of walking).
Waterproof rating of the footwear.
The SH100 Warm boots are waterproof for up to 2000 flexes.
SNOWCONTACT technology.
SNOWCONTACT soles are made using a special component. Designs are optimised to provide excellent all-terrain grip and maximal traction all winter long. SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow.
Measuring the thermal insulation of our footwear.
We measure the thermal insulation of our boots by asking a panel of customers to assess how cold they feel during tests carried out in the field and the laboratory. We use these tests to accurately identify the temperature threshold at which your boots will protect you from the cold. This is how we identify the comfort temperature (100% satisfaction) and the limit temperature (70% satisfaction).
