Good protection from snow, could have been better

    1. Good insulation from cold.
    2. Upto shin protection from snow.
    3. Easy to wear.

    1. Need to buy big size to accommodate extra shock layer. However, at times, you will be wearing single layer of shocks and you will find it loose as there is no mechanism to tighten.
    2. Sole is not so great in terms of grip.

    1. Replace a better sole with good grip.
    2. Add mechanism to tighten (laces) in the top part of the boot like you have in some women snow boots. This will ensure no seepage of snow from the top.

    Great Quality

I'm living in Ladakh since a year and this boot is made ready from snow to rocky surfaces. It seldom slips. If you need to trek in areas with ankle level snow. It's best in class and value for money.

Footwear waterproofing test.
These boots, which are laboratory and field tested, provide optimum waterproofing and breathability. The boots are initially immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check for bubbles on the surface of the boot. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, with 2000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 4 km walk), 4000 flexes (approx. equivalent to an 8 km walk) and 8000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 16 km walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
Boot waterproofing.
The 500 Warm boots are waterproof up to 4,000 flexes.
Field tests.
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. In our field tests the product manager works with people outside QUECHUA to test, improve, and approve our products.
Measurement of the boots' thermal insulation.
It was not previously possible to give a precise idea of the temperature at which your shoes would still insulate your feet from the cold. Now it can be done: the temperature limits for use are shown on your Quechua boots. We conduct field and laboratory tests on people's sensitivity to the cold with a panel of customers to measure the thermal insulation of our boots at rest and when walking. We take into consideration the differences between men and women.
Lab tests.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and straps, fixtures, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, advanced ageing.
