Excellent coat

The coat is well sized very light and warm workman ship is excellent. Only thing is that not as warm as stated but still warm enough and I don't know how sturdy the coat will be for mountain use but overall great coat.

    Black padded hiking jacket

All the stuffing has become lumpy and it is unwearable.

    Cheap light weight duvet

Used in hut and under waterproof as duvet jacket. Would not use this outside in extreme conditions. The sizing it's generally too small or just plain wrong (only buy where you can try it on). This product is light (the outer shell strength reflects this) and the down inflated well to produce good insulation. But the seams are straight through (not lofted), although there is a liner on the chest, there is little baffling on the main zip. The inclusion of side vents is pointless (and cooling); however the integral hood works well. - it kept me warm in -5° in still conditions, wouldn't want to try it at -20°!

Inflating Power of down/feather filling
For this down jacket with its 85/15 filling, the inflating power is guaranteed to be 660 CUIN or above. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.
The advantages of duck down and feather filling*
The durable and inflating properties of down give this jacket 3 qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This allows you to lighten the load in your backpack - Ultra compactable * Our feathers come from Chinese ducks reared for their meat; we remove their feathers after slaughter. We hold the death certificates for these ducks.
Care advice for a down jacket with down and feather filling
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our advice by clicking on the link below:

In case of rain
The material of the quilted jacket is water repellent. It allows drops of water to slide off the fabric which delays the penetration of water into the quilted jacket while you get out of the rain. The shoulders and hood of the jacket, which are more exposed to the rain, are waterproof. We nevertheless recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the quilted jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to the rain.
